Bataan Death March 2018Name: Bataan Death March 2018Date: November 10, 2018Time: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM ESTEvent Description:The Harrodsburg National Guard Unit is hosting a community wide Memorial event honoring the World War 2 Harrodsburg Tanker unit that were subject to the Bataan Death March and P.O.W captivity.
The event will occur on Veteran’s Day weekend November 10th and will include opening ceremonies, a parade, an open invite ruck march, memorabilia display, ongoing History Channel documentary video viewing, food vendors, and other things still in the planning stage. The general location is Fort Harrod and the Harrodsburg YMCA, but expanding into downtown and the greater Harrodsburg area.
The Harrodsburg National Guard unit and the VFW are covering the bill up front and selling event t-shirts, but are asking for community assistance for sponsorships to make up the cost deficit. Please ask your churches/congregations/community partners for their financial support to honor these Fallen Heroes.
Please feel free to utilize Joshua Stine as a person of contact, or contact the Harrodsburg National Guard unit for questions/concerns/comments/etc…
We are encouraging sponsors at the $100 to $150 range for each sponsor area, however greatly welcome generous givers to really bless the event. The sponsor options include:
-Purchasing a table/booth either along the ruck march route or in the festivities areas
-Purchasing a sponsorship on the t-shirt itself
-Purchasing a sign/banner to be displayed in the parade, posted along the ruck march route, or in the festivities area.
-Additionally, general monetary donations to VFW will be greatly appreciated.
As always we covet your prayers and blessings for a great event and for honoring our Fallen Heroes!
