Kentucky River Sweep 2016
THE 2016 KENTUCKY RIVER SWEEP
The 2016 Mercer County Kentucky River Sweep will take place on June 18, 2016. Boats participating in the sweep are encouraged to put in at Oregon Landing Ramp by 9:00 AM and “Sweep” the river for trash 16 miles up to Hampton’s Ramp just beyond Brooklyn Bridge. Bags, T shirts and registration will be available at both sites. A County trash trailer and food will be available at Hampton’s Ramp. Persons wishing to ride as well as boats planning to participate are encouraged to sign up at the Chamber of Commerce. Seats available for passengers will be determined by the number of motor boats that will join the sweep up the river. So far approximately 10 seats are available in the Water Patrol boats that participate in the River Sweep.
Paddlers can put in at either Oregon Landing or Hampton’s Ramp, but keep in mind that food for lunch will be available at Hampton’s Ramp only.
In the event of inclement weather or high water the Sweep will be rescheduled at a later date as it was last year. In the event of a 68 road closing or not enough time to clear mud off the ramp at Brooklyn all activity will be conducted from Oregon Landing Ramp as it has been in recent years.
