The History of African American Music
On Saturday, June 7 at 2pm at Historic St. Peter A.M.E. Church, Dr. Kathy Bullock will present “The History of African American Music” sponsored by James Harrod Trust (JHT) and Harrodsburg-Mercer County African American Historical Society (HMCAAHS). Dr. Bullock is a renowned scholar, performer, and educator specializing in African American music and culture, particularly gospel music, spirituals, and classical works by composers from the African diaspora. She has spent over 50 years studying and performing African American music, exploring its connections with Appalachian music and its historical roots in West Africa.
